I love to play board games with my kids, especially in the summer when we can play outside. I did a post here back in November but, like everything else, our game choices are always evolving. Here are a few of our favorite games to play right now.

1.Hi Ho Cherry-O-

This is a simple game where you spin and get to pick the cherries off your tree. If you land on a spilled basket, you must empty your basket. If you land on the bird, you have to take a cherry out of your basket and put it back on the tree. This game is fun for all ages, but geared a little more toward younger kids. Walker loves it.

2.HeadBanz Game-

Each player is given a card that they stick in their headband so everyone can see the card but them. They then ask questions to try and guess what their card says they are. This game is good for kids who are 5 or older. We always end up laughing a lot while playing this game.

3.Scattergories-

In this game, you will be given a card that has different categories that you need to fill out. The kicker is that you have a specific letter that each category must start with. You have a certain amount of time to fill out your card. You want to be creative and try and come up with an answer that is different from everyone else. My older two  love this game and Elle, who will be going into kindergarten, is still trying to get the hang of it.

4.Old Maid-

This game is easy to play and fun for all ages. You draw cards from other players trying to create matches while trying to avoid getting the Old Maid card. I used to play this game with my great grandma so it has a special place in my heart. We can play this as a family as long as we give a little assistance to Walker.

5.Catch Phrase!-

I linked this one because this is the version we have. It looks like they have a new electronic version that is less expensive, but I have not tried it yet. You are given certain words and you give clues for the players to guess. We sometimes have to skip certain phrases because the kids don’t know what they mean, but we still have fun with this one. It is perfect for older kids and adults.

If you are looking for a way to enjoy your evenings or spend some time inside due to the heat, games are a great way to go!

What are some of your favorite board or card games?
